Quaker Rice Cake snacks are as bad as baked potato chips and tortilla chips!

I got fooled this weekend!

I was starved and wanted a "healthier" snack option. I ended up buying Quaker Mini Cheddar Cheese snacks. The nutrition facts are as follows.... can you find the problem on the following label?

Nutrition Facts: Quaker Mini Cheddar Cheese Snacks

Give up???
Answer: The serving size on the Quaker snacks is 15g or 1/2 ounce....
on most snacks the amount per serving is twice as much.... 30g or 1 once.

So really if you multiply the serving size of Quaker mini cheddar snacks by 2 you can compare it to baked chips and tortilla chips.

Summary of comparison:
  • All 3 snacks have similar calories, carbohydrates, and protein
  • Tortilla chips have more fat
  • Quaker snacks have twice as much sodium.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't eat the Quaker mini rice cake snacks, it just means don't eat them thinking they are your best snack option.

The moral of my story, always read your labels!

Don't assume that because something sounds healthy, it actually is healthy!
