5 Tips to Help With the Holiday Cookie Conundrum

Hey all,

So I love making and decorating sugar cookies every year but am always tempted. So some alternatives/ solutions I thought of are as follows:

1.) Make salt dough ornaments. They are essentially the same as making sugar cookies in that you roll them out and use cookie cutters, then bake them. But if you were to eat them... well you prob wouldn't like them. Then you can paint them and hang them on your tree.

2.) Chew gum while you make cookies.

3.) Instead of frosting use marshmallow fluff, its 40 calories per 2 TBSP which is a lot less than frosting.

4.) Whip store bought frosting in the blender, it will double in size. This means you can use less frosting and therefore will decrease the calories from frosting on each cookie.

5.) If you plan on frosting cookies, reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe by 1/4-1/3 cup and use a mixture of flour and powdered sugar to roll them out. The powdered sugar and frosting more than make up for the sugar you omit.

Here are some potentially better cookie recipes to use this season.
