5 Halloween Candy Tips For a Healthy Lifestyle

Any night of temptation ends best with a little
pre-holiday planning.

These are only a few suggestions:
  1. Don't deprive yourself: Pick one or two types of your favorite candy and make a rule that you will only have 1 or 2 fun size bars. Click for Hersheys 100 calorie candy suggestions.
  2. Avoid mindless snacking: Don't sit by the candy dish, have someone else hand out the candy, or leave the candy outside the door. At the end of the night start to give away more candy and try to run out.
  3. Get in some quality time with your kids and burn calories: Walk around with your children and take them trick or treating... if they want to continue on to the next neighborhood walk with them!
  4. Help your kids avoid taking home a candy surplus: Give your kids a one candy per door rule. This will help you and your kid fight extra calories once the night is over.
  5. Moderate your post- Halloween intake: Freeze your candy bars. This way you have to plan ahead when you are going to thaw them out and eat them. You could also hand out your extra candy at work in goody bags.

Other strategies may work better for you so make a plan and write it down ahead of time.

Its a holiday so have fun!
